| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description In this unique and playful picture book, the striking patterns found on animals, plants, and other natural forms are used to create each letter of the alphabet. Readers must guess what each pattern comes from. On the right-hand page is the clue: the letter. On the left-hand page is the answer. The clues can be as obvious as a zebra-striped z and a rainbow r, or as subtle and surprising as an m-shaped close-up of a macaw's wing. With vibrant, graphic cut-paper illustrations, Janet Marshall has created a vivid reminder that even the simplest things around us are worth a second look.

| Customer Reviews:
Great concept, mostly poorly rendered September 6, 2008 I was disappointed in this book for the reasons noted in the professional reviews above--some of the terms used are obscure (I would add "viper" to the list), and most of the art has little to no personality. On a positive note, however, the pages that contain the letters are beautiful and in wonderful bright colors. After reading the above customer review, in which the reviewer's children love the book, I think that maybe adults don't care for the book, but children do (and isn't that the point?)--perhaps it's worth a try with your children at the used price.
My kid's favorite alphabet book! January 28, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My 3 1/2 year old daughter checked this book out from the library, and then begged me to read it over and over and didn't want to take it back. My 5 1/2 year old son liked it equally as well. They would take turns saying the letter, and guessing the picture on the next page. They would fight over who's turn it was. I was, quite frankly, surprised that they liked it so much, and that's why I'm writing this review, because it was quite a hit!
