Product Description To his friends and neighbours, Jeffrey Mailhot was an ordinary, law-abiding motorcycle enthusiast with a fondness for 80's rock'n roll. But there was a dark side to Mailhot - and an urge he couldn't control...Rhode Island detectives knew they had a serial killer in their town. But the victims were women who lived and worked in a sexual underground - and whose bodies were never found. Then, prostitutes began to talk about a man who played too rough. Police arrested Jeffrey Mailhot, and an incredible duel of wits began...A brilliant police interrogation led to a chilling confession. Now, this insider's account of a modern-day Jack the Ripper takes us into the room where Jeffrey Mailhot, in his own words, told police how he killed women with his bare hands, cut their bodies into pieces, and then went out to kill again...

| Customer Reviews:
The Rhode Island Ripper! January 8, 2009 Three prostitutes go missing in Woonsocket, Rhode Island without a trace. Of course, nobody appears to care that much except their families. Audrey Harris, Stacie Goulet, and Christine Dumont were adult prostitutes who all had drug problems. They go missing and the local police learn about a customer who likes to put a chokehold on some of the women. Once arrested, Jeffrey Mailtrot reluctantly must answer what happened to the women.
The book is fine and nice twist from reading about homicides occurred by spouses against their spouses to end a marriage. I have read enough of those to last a lifetime.
Unfortunately, prostitutes have the highest risk of being abducted and murdered by serial killers. The two authors also bring in about 100 pages worth of side stories which distracted me from the actual stories. I didn't need to read about Bundy, Jack the Ripper, Ridgway, etc. I felt at times that this book was muddling through and it took me two days to finish it because I felt that the story was already told in half the book. I will say that the authors do provide useful information to those who are interested in true crime reading and this book is a nice break from other true crime books.
The authors should be commended for writing about a case that barely got attention in the first place.
